Stranger Safety and Awareness Class Presenter: Jay Charness – A.P.E. Inc.

Thursday, January 25th, 2018, 6:30-7:30pm Sierra Elementary School This class is presented by Sierra’s PTA

This class is for Sierra Elementary School families. There is no cost. It is an informative and interactive presentation to educate you on basic stranger safety techniques. In this class we concentrate on defining a stranger, lures, distancing, what to yell, “Going APE” & code words. The purpose is to expose your family to the material and provide you with the necessary information so you can consistently work with your child on stranger safety.

Stranger/Predator awareness and safety is not about teaching kids to be scared! Rather, it is about teaching kids to be very careful. In today’s society, it is very important to understand where the danger may come from and to be aware of these potential dangers when parents or guardians are not around. It is our hope that by educating and developing our kid’s natural instincts, they will be able to either avoid these situations or get out of them safely if confronted by such danger. If ever presented with one of these situations, the worst thing to do is nothing. Bringing unwanted attention, to a potential attacker, may create just enough time to get away unharmed.

It is critically important to us that all our kids are safe and we give them the education and tools should they ever be presented with a situation. We look forward to seeing you there.

If you have any questions about the class, do not hesitate to contact the instructor via email at or by phone at (303) 731-7731.
